Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in the region. It’s a peaceful spot with impressive views, terraced gardens and tranquil lakeside villages. On the eastern side of the lake, Val Veddasca is where you will find tracks and paths for excursions suitable for all levels of fitness, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and nature.
Lake Iseo is a lesser-known, smaller lake situated just north of the cities of Brescia and Bergamo – an hour and 20-minute drive from Orio al Serio International Airport. It’s an ideal destination for holiday-makers who prefer exploring off the beaten track with fewer crowds. Ferries operate all-year-round, making it convenient to visit during the out-of-season months – we recommend visiting in autumn when temperatures are mild and the picturesque landscape of the wooded hillsides reflect glorious shades of red, brown and gold.
Lake Orta is undoubtedly one of the most captivating lakes and despite its small size, the tranquil, exclusive atmosphere is perfect for a romantic weekend away. It’s no surprise the inspiring backdrop attracts poets and writers from all over the world who visit to replenish and indulge their imaginations. After a relaxing day at the lake, explore the cobbled backstreets where you will find cosy candlelit restaurants and wine bars.
